I haven't posted in a little while because of school things and other generally not blog-worthy preoccupations (job interview, taxes paying, mouse hunting...). I'm in crunch mode right now for school, with graduation coming up in just a bit over a month. (I just frightened myself a little bit writing that out... I have so much to do before then!)
Our magnolia tree is in bloom though, and that helps me remember that there is a lot more to the world than the state of my thesis.
Aren't they beautiful? Try to last as long as you can, magnolia blooms.
Oh, and I am making the time to watch Masterpiece Theatre's version of Charles Dickens' Little Dorrit on Sunday nights.
I've watched three episodes so far, and they've been excellent! Masterpiece Theatre is doing much better this year (I've seen Tess and Wuthering Heights so far)Last year's Austen-fest was mediocre, and butchered a lot of her novels in my opinion. But this season MT is definitely redeeming itself! I think the fact that Andrew Davies, the classic novel adaptor extraordinaire, is willing this time around to make his adaptations a bit longer makes the quality of the films much better. It's hard to do justice to a novel in just an hour and a half. Little Dorrit is going to be five episodes long and it has much more depth to it as a result. Is anyone else watching it? I would love to know what other people think.
Sometimes I like to daydream about other adaptations Davies should undertake. I'd love to see We Have Always Lived in the Castle for example.
