Recently I picked up the remnants of a fuzzy gray yarn which I had used to make Sean a scarf last winter. There wasn't really enough left to make another scarf with it, but I played around with it a bit and ended up making some very simple handwarmers.
They are just little rectangles sewn closed, with a hole for the thumb. Nothing really too complicated. I knitted some ribbing around the wrist and close to the top. Then, for some extra cuteness factor, I pilfered some little white buttons from one of Sean's old shirts and sewed them on the center of the wrist area.
They were quick; I just worked on them while watching a couple of movies over the past few weeks. I was just experimenting, but I think they actually worked out! After I finished them I wondered how often I would really wear them, but my hands were cold the very next morning and I wore them while typing emails.
This picture makes me laugh every time I see it. These are onions hanging in old stockings inside our utility closet. Sean read somewhere that they would keep fresh longer this way. It makes me feel a bit like Laura Ingalls Wilder - stocking up for winter.
Have a lovely week!
